BROLENS - ELEMENTAL RACE OF FIRE
How do the Fire Elementals of Archsphere work?
//////////
There are two distinct aspect of each type of elemental - the psychokinetic abilty and the unique physical traits.
//////////
PSYCHOKINETIC ABILITY - Thermokinesis: This psychokinetic ability is separated into three different features.
- Semi-thermal Repulsion: Brolens are able to repel a limited amount of heat away from their body; they can keep cool the temperature around their bodies. The range of repulsion has a radius of only a few feet from their bodies and the magnitude of repulsion is limited to only about 23 degrees - in other words the coolest temperature they can reach is 23 degrees lower than the ambient temperature (hence the semi)
- Thermal Condensation: Brolens are able to concentrate and condense heat into a particular point of focus. Unlike the limited magnitude of repulsion, brolens can condense and increase the heat of an area dramatically, and the smaller the area of focus, the hotter it can become; for instance a brolen can increase the temperature of a large room by 40-50 degrees but focus their concentration at a small point on a piece of paper and they can easily increase the temperature hot enough to ignite it into flames. Within a tiny focal point, brolens can increase the temperature well over a 500 to even 1000 degrees.
- Pyrokinesis: The most unique and noted feature of Brolens is there ability to manipulate matter in high temperatures. The high concentration of heat acts as the median to control the matter at will. The best example is the manipulation of fire, as Brolens can manipulate the superheated gases and plasma that make up the present flame. Brolens can manipulate any form of matter so long as its superheated. The constant circumstance that a brolen must face is to keep balance thermal condensation and pyrokinesis
---
Recessive Cases - These are psychokinetic alterations of this element. Though elementals with recessive alterations possess the same physical attributes.
Anti-thermokinesis: 1 in 10,000 brolens possess this alteration. The features of this psychokinetic ability is completely opposite to the features of thermokinesis. (They are unofficially known as "ice elementals).
- Those with anti-thermokinesis posses semi-thermal condensation in which they have a limited range to increase the temperature at a max of 20-30 degrees around there bodies.
- They then posses and unlimited range of thermal repulsion, repelling the heat of focused area; they can dramatically decrease the temperatures.
- The last feature of this ability is cryokinesis, which is permits the manipulation of cold matter; the matter must be at least -80 degrees in order to manipulate the matter.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Brolen Sapiens - With the combination of their adapted skin and thermokinesis, brolen sapiens can tolerate a much wider temperature range then the average sapien, particularly warmer temperatures. Their skin is a sufficient one-way insulator, keeping heat out as well as releasing heat from their bodies to keep cool.
Brolens have the much more sufficient digestive system, especially for breaking down and absorbing as much organic carbon as possible.
The most notable trait of brolens are their C-H glands or hydrocarbon glands. These duct-like glands, modified lymphatic vessels, take in and store high concentration of pure hydrocarbon gases - mostly methane, ethane, and propane. The ends of these vessel-like glands are condensed pores located all throughout the palms of the hands and even the feet. The ends have tiny individual muscle fibers that open the pores at will causing the gas to leak out through the hands. The releasing gases serve as the primary fuel for a brolens pyrokinesis in the same manner the fuel feeds a blow torch. These glands have the possibility to degenerate if the pores are not stimulated on a regular basis by early adulthood.
Brolen Dromea All brolen dromea are completely naked of feathers. Instead, they have noticeable larger and harder scales.
Brolen dromea also have C-H glands very similar to brolen sapiens but the location of the pores are in much different locations. The pores of the C-H glands are concentrated and aligned across the spine from the top of the skull to the tip of the tail. Brolen dromea are noted to show the most skill in pyrokinesis, as they can quickly ignite the gases released across there entire back, giving the stunning appearance of having flames as spines.
Brolen Rhamphors The only physical difference between non-brolen Rhamphors and the brolens is that brolens have much stronger, heat resistant scales. The palate (roof of their mouth) and tongue are also sturdy and heat resilient.
The source of fuel for the pyrokinesis of a Rhamphor is much different than that of a sapien or dromea; they dont have C-H glands. Instead a brolen rhamphor uses the hydrogen gas stored in in its body.
All Rhamphors have specialized sacs that branch off from their digestive system. The sacs fill up with hydrogen gas made from mutualistic bacteria in their intestines that produce the hydrogen while helping beak down food. Naturally the hydrogen sacs had developed to help sustain their dense bodies during flight - think of internal balloons helping to keep you afloat. The sacs have one-way exit tubes at the far end of their tongue and breathe out hydrogen at will when necessary.
Brolen Rhamphors simply take advantage of this feature and utilize the escaping hydrogen from their mouths as fuel for their pyrokinesis, better known as their fire-breathing.
