In the timeline where it takes place - the first team of astronauts had successfully made it to orbit around the planet. Part of their mission was launching new satellites and repairing some of the very first ones ever launched in Archsphere's history. It was during this mission they managed to scan a complete picture of Archsphere from space.

Its around early spring in the southern hemisphere so the ice bridge connecting to the southeastern continent is thawing out. And there are a substantial amount of landmasses within the polar region in which help sustain the ice caps.

So I wanted to do some kind of upgrade from my original kiddy-color-coded atlas map of Archsphere here [link]

So I figured this is what I figured out in having a more realistic image. And considering based on the timeline with the nation of Greymere expanding their space program, a satellite image would be appropriate, lol.

Wow...this took me all week. Pretty much what I did was used my scanned sketch of the original map and used Corel Paint Shop Pro X from there. And man I'm proud of myself. I accidently figured out how to use layers!!! :D And boy let me tell you that layers were my best friends with this image here.

What I did was copy/pasted segments form actual composite satellite images of different continents (from freehand to the magic wand) and just scuplted out the details from there.

I think it turned out pretty good, but I'm open to any criticism/suggestions, considering I am no hell experienced with paint/photo shops.

[ And might I point out before I even decided to finalize my world map of Archsphere I did take real physics and other natural meterological behavior into account when placing the biomes on the continents (such as the corolis effect, rain shadows, etc, as well as biogeochemical factors...and my own fantasy factors (the effects of astronogen - my fictional substance on Archsphere) ]

I might go back and edit to do little tune ups on the pic and maybe figure out how to clean up the outline.

But here are the list of satellite images that I used to manipulate:

South America: [link]
North America: [link]
Asia: [link]
Australia: [link]
Antarctica: [link]

--------------------------------------------------

- The map/world itself is what I own. [ Archsphere (c) atmos00000 ]

- All the pasted and manipulated colors and segments are from maps listed above which are part of NASA's Blue Marble satellite image collection - so NASA owns all the pretty colors technically, I guess, lol ^^; Though as well as I understand I think the Blue Marble images aren't copyrighted...none the less I don't take credit for the colors.

(I picked the maps off from wikipedia, but here is the offical website: [link] )

Thats pretty cool, dude. Wish I had thought of that when I was designing worlds =/

Thanks. :)

And yeah there were several "thought-steps" before I finally pondered "Hmm...what if I try this out" lol

wow nice attention to detail. Your technique for the planet sounds pretty intense... I'd be far too lazy to actually go through with all that hahaha.

Yeah it was just a combination of several different cut/pasting techniques followed by lots of erasing/cleaning. The oceans were definitely the easiest, haha!
