Background: Parther was once a scientist working for the navy. He even studied under the apprenticeship of Professor Vegapunk. Like Prof. Vegapunk, Parther was fascinated in the science behind the devil fruit (or cursed fruit) and their relation to the effects by the seastones. Idoling Professor Vegapunk, Parther strived in his independent studies to stumble across a breakthrough as equal to Vegapunk's works.

Among his studies and exploration, he found the shirei shirei fruit and used it in an experiment in attempt to "purify" its aura, possibly eliminating the weakness of devil fruit (seawater and seastone). During the experiment, navy officials attempted to storm his lab, accusing him of illegal activity (never reporting of the discovery of the fruit or requesting permission/confirming the experiment, etc). With his experiment about to be threatened he consumed the treated shirei shirei fruit as he believed it was the only way he could save his experiment. Upon immediately obtaining his unique abilities he managed to escape the scene and abandoned the navy, finding his own refuge island to continue his work.

Overtime Parther gradually lost his empathy towards others and became more obsessed with his work (while still keeing his cunning and collected demeanor); he would go on kidnapping sprees and on unsuspecting ships to obtain live test subjects (which is how he got the nickname, the Ayakashi). Now he has his eyes set on individuals with unique and powerful devil fruit abilities in order to reach such goals like immortality and finding a cure to the devil fruits weakness. His ambitions can be seen that of a mad scientist as his experiments (and himself) are his top priority. Among the top five targets for test subjects is “Kamikaze-Quinn” for her interesting trait of invulnerability.

Effects of the shirei shirei fruit: Parther as the ability to shift his body from physical to ghost form. The thing is he has no control over it and is physical state is determined strictly by the phases of the moon. 85% of the time during the partial phases (the waning and waxing phases) of the moon, Parther's body is half ghost and half physically intact. During the three days around the New Moon (this includes the day before, the day of, and the day after) Parther is fully human (in physical form.) And during the 24 hour period of the full moon phase, Parther's body is completely in ghost form.

Abilities as a half ghost:This is the form that Parther has throughout most of the lunar cycle. He is overall partially translucent with only half of his physical molecules present. But what's unique about this state is that he can both consciously and subconsciously choose which part of his body to concentrate his physical half. For instance: if he was to concentrate his physical half on his upper torso entirely, his lower half would be almost invisible in a ghostly haze. If he wanted to he could have his physical form concentrated at his face, his left arm, and right leg, he could do so Either half the other half would always be ghost form.
The advantage of this state is that his body always shifts subconsciously to prevent physical injury. For instance if a sword was about to slice his arm, his arm would immediately shift in ghost form and the sword to phase through rendering Parther unharmed.

Of course with half of his body always being in physical form, if he was hit by an attack that would strike his whole body at once, it would injury him. (A he boulder falling over him will kill him like the average person). And the more he gets physically injured in this state, the less efficient his body becomes at subconsciously shifting. (Areas of deep cuts cannot be turned into ghost form).

Also, he could use the aura of his ghost half as a shield against energy based attacks, in most cases, fire. Any part of his body that is in ghost form can phase through solid objects. The main disadvantage of this state is that he still succumbed to gravity and must always have some of his physical essence concentrated at his feet to get around.

Abilities as a complete ghost: Within the 24 hour period of the full moon, Parther is entirely a ghost. The most relieving advantage for him is that any physical injuries he had previously obtained would instantly heal. Also, in this state he is not succumbed to gravity and can fly and float around like your average ghost. Aside from the general weakness that all devil-fruit consumers share, he is invulnerable to physical attacks. But on the other side of the coin he cannot touch, hold, or injury anyone or anything physically. However as a pure ghost he has the power to fire his own ghost aura at his opponents, injuring their souls. When he injures someone's soul, he deteriorates their will power. If he causes serious damage to someone's will power, he can render them entirely unfocused, confused, and even suicidal. Fortunately for any potential victims, it takes much energy from Parther to focus on torturing a single individual, plus a person's will power does heal over time. Lastly he can possess a living individual if their will power isn't very powerful...which is why Parther would only damage someone's will power just enough to possess them.

Abilities as a half ghost AND a complete ghost: Parther has a unique sixth sense of detecting the aura of certain dead. This faint aura of the deceased lingers around living individuals whom they had a very strong bond with (whether it'd be love or friendship). By sensing this aura, he can identify the person that had died and what relation the deceased had with the close individual. With this ability Parther works undercover as a fortuneteller and uses this ability to try to get close and possibly manipulate them to do his dirty work.

Abilities as a complete human: He has none! During the three days around the new moon, he has no special powers as a complete human. It's as if he never ate a Devil's fruit. As a matter of fact, in this state it's exactly as if he never ate a devil's fruit - why the emphasis? As a complete human, Parther is entirely unaffected by the hindering effects of seawater or any seastone. It is because of this unique trait that Parther believed he was on the right tract with his experiments on the shirei shirei fruit; his procedures on the fruit affected it to some extent before he had eaten it. One might consider this state his most vulnerable, but don't underestimate him. Before he was a scientist he already had naval training and some experience (a decent sharpshooter) and as a complete human he always carries his purified shard of seastone, which he can use to temporarily nullify those with devil fruit abilities.

***The fact that Parther’s powers are so mysterious and complex is enough to intimidate the vast majority aside from his reputation. Hardly anyone has even figured out how his powers work entirely, only his most trusted henchmen and women and possibly some of his rivals may have figured the gist. But still, Parther has yet to discover the full extent of his potential.

But "no" unlike most villians on the tube, he doesn't publically announce information of his strengths and weaknesses in a boastful manner which would ultimately benefit his opponent(s).

He's very good at leaving a very strong impression on others so those that survive an intense encounter with him either:
a) Fear him a lot
b) Hate him a lot
c)Want to serve him
d) a mix of any of the above.

Oh, and he's also decently loaded....enough to lure in *cough* hire some good mercenaries.

***Parther doesn't take orders so his only occupation on a pirate crew would be the captain.
