Well up until like 3 hours ago, I didn't know that.

You have a general GPA and a major or specialized GPA.

General GPA - The grade point average of every college course you've taken

Major GPA - The grade point average of only the courses of your program/major.

Your general GPA is the one that makes the single appearance on unofficial transcripts but your major is like "hidden" unless you ask for it.

But anyway, I was registering an account in my college's placement office and was making an appointment for an interview for a summer internship by the US Fish and Wildlife Service next week.

So I had to bring a resume to the placement office and the desk-woman was checking through it to see if there were ways to make it look better and so she looked at my general GPA (the only one I knew) which isn't the prettiest the GPA digit.....2.82(out of 4.0) DX

She asked if by any chance my major GPA.

So I go, "What's that." So she tells me what it is and where I can find out (my department's main office). She says I still have time on Monday to make and changes on my resume so I could find out my major GPA. She also tells me that on resumes you have the option of putting your general or your major GPA (which ever is higher). So I get to my biology department office just before it closes and find out my major GPA.

HOLY FRIGGIN CRAP!!!!! My GPA is an awesome 3.12!!

dA-smilies cannot express to how very VERY happy I am. Not just because of making my resume look better, but finding this out really REALLY boasts my self esteem in knowing I'm really not doing so bad and I have well more than enough time to make my major GPA look better and stuff. I think I'm going to call up my friends and force them to throw me a party.

So, my question to you - Do YOU know both of your GPAs?
Because the two can help a lot! (academically AND spiritually, haha)

PS - On a side note to my international buddies, I don't know if or how different colleges outside the US work with the grading-system. >.>'
